Art and culture on board
Inspired by the owners of the great era of
prestigious ocean liners, the company has gathered
a collection of more than 1,300 works by some fifty
contemporary artists. Paintings, murals and interior
decoration are all cultural links between Brittany,
Normandy and the destinations we travel to.
Reducing our food miles
Around 80% of the food served on board our
ships originates in France and the vast majority of
this comes from Brittany. We like to use local
producers as much as possible so that we reduce
the carbon footprint of our food supplies and we
also build long-term, lasting relationships with
food producers to ensure we always have the
best quality food in our restaurants.
Cutting down on waste
On board, we limit the use of single-use plastics.
In our catering outlets, stainless steel cutlery has
replaced plastic, coffee stirrers are made of wood
and straws are made of paper. In your cabin,
refillable dispensers have replaced plastic-wrapped
individual soaps and cups are made of cardboard.
5.7 million plastic items have been eliminated in one
year, including 2 million cups.
Caring for the environment
As a company that respects the environment and the
regions it serves, Brittany Ferries works closely with
several international marine research projects.
Two of our ships are fitted with sophisticated sensors
which collect sea-water measurements in real time.
It also works in partnership with organisations
such as Océanopolis, Roscoff Biological Station and
ORCA – a British charity working to protect whales,
dolphins and other marine life.
