Bragança is in a relatively remote province of Portugal that has a wild and beautiful landscape. Close to the
Montesinho natural park where boar and other game still roam, this area is ideal for outdoor leisure pursuits and
is perhaps not one of the most common tourist spots, but it has an interesting history. The Pousada is a short
walk from the old town and is named after the hill on which it sits. Unlike many other Pousadas it is a modern
building and the view down towards the city across the plateau to the mountains beyond is just breathtaking.
Well appointed bedrooms are air conditioned and have a balcony with a view of the pool (June-Sept) and
17thC castle, which is floodlit at night, and the excellent

On an isthmus across the water from Murtosa (12k), this Pousada is in a magnificent location right on the
water's edge close to São Jacinto beach. The building is very 60s but has a pleasant, modern interior and
its quiet verandas overlooking the lagoon are the perfect place to sit and relax. The contemporary bedrooms

place to spend a few days. The beach across the river is one of the region's best and the huge domed
Basilica on the Santa Luzia Mount overlooking the port is one of the city's most important monuments.
