The drive from Santander is amazing, passing through a gorge so deep that sunlight never reaches
the bottom, and when you get to Fuente Dé, the amazement continues. Surrounded by mountains and
close to the cable car that can take the strain out of reaching the 2,000 metre level, the Parador is
furnished in traditional mountain style and restaurant specialities include the warming hearty stew -
cocido lebaniego. There is superb walking, and wonderful terrain for naturalists. Garage parking approx.

This 18thC mansion house was a convent up until the late 80s when it was converted into this lovely
country hotel which has no official star rating but belongs to the Cantabria Quality Club and has the
equivalent of a 3 star grading. It sits within large grounds with the Miera river running through and is
just a short stroll from the village centre. There are just 10 individually furnished spacious bedrooms,
a chapel left over from convent days which is still used for weddings and christenings, and beautifully
maintained grounds in which to sit and relax on the terrace. Liérganes is considered to be one
of Cantabria's most beautiful villages and has a
famous Romanesque bridge as well as a renowned
spa centre. Free public parking 200m.

This lovely traditional mountain hotel is in a magnificent location high up in the Picos not far from
Potes in a little place called Lon. Reached by winding roads that are quite steep in places, Lon is
beautifully unspoilt and, surrounded by mountains, the views take your breath away so the journey is
