and varied locations along the west coast of France.
Highlights include the historic port of Rochefort, the
wildlife paradise of the Marais Poitevin, Bordeaux’s

visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and either start
or finish your holiday with a luxurious overnight cruise -

The historic Way of St James dates back to the Middle
Ages when pilgrims made their way to Santiago in
Spain. This tour follows part of that route visiting some
magnificent places in western France along the way.
These include Tours in the heart of the Loire Valley,
Roman Saintes on the river Charente and Libourne, near
the city of Bordeaux.
On the way to Biarritz, a good place to stop is the French
Basque capital, Bayonne. A short distance towards the
Pyrenees is St Jean Pied de Port, the departure point for
many of the pilgrims walking from France.
Having crossed into Spain the route takes you to
Santo Domingo in La Rioja, one of the most important
stopping places for the pilgrims.
Other highlights are León, an unmissable city with
a wealth of history and architecture and medieval
Santiago - northern Spain’s most visited city.
Next stop is the north Galician coast and an overnight
stay at Ribadeo followed by a drive into the spectacular
mountain scenery of the Picos de Europa national park.
Set in a river valley is Cangas de Onís, famous for its
Roman bridge and Santillana is arguably one of Spain’s
prettiest villages.
