Perhaps the most intrinsically Breton of all the region's cities, Quimper is the place where you are most
likely to hear the Breton language. Close to the river, the centrally located Oceania is ideally placed for
gentle exploration on foot to the Breton museum, cathedral, covered market hall, and the fascinating
little streets packed with picturesque shops. It has modern and stylish bedrooms all with a shower as
opposed to a bath and there is a pleasant evening restaurant.

Steeped in history and legend, Quimper is the cultural heart of Brittany and the oldest Breton city. With
a reputation for fine Faïence pottery and lively street markets, it has a lovely atmospheric old town
where the streets are named after ancient job titles and beautiful half timbered houses line the cobbled
roads. And right in its centre close to the cathedral and musuems, this traditional 19thC coaching inn
was named after a former Breton king whose daughter famously became a mermaid. The charming
bedrooms have complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, there's a comfortable bar lounge, and
in summer breakfast is served in the bright conservatory overlooking the garden terrace. Free street

The Oceania is a comfortable modern hotel with spacious bedrooms, a large friendly bar and an
attractive restaurant which serves good regional cuisine and a hot buffet breakfast. There is also
plenty of parking and the added bonus of an outdoor swimming pool (June-mid Sept). The town centre
and HB Henriot Quimper pottery factory are a short drive (1k), and beautiful sandy beaches are also
easily reached from here. Alternatively why not take a boat and gently sail down the Odet, the so called
prettiest river in France, to Bénodet.

This pleasant hotel is alongside Rockroum beach, 3k from the ferry terminal, and is adjoining the
thalassotherapy centre where guests can use the facilities free of charge - treatments and massages are
also available at extra cost. The hotel has well equipped bedrooms all with balcony, fridge and complimentary
tea and coffee making facilities, and there is a large panoramic restaurant overlooking the Ile de Batz where
you can enjoy fine dining in the evening and a good breakfast in the morning. Roscoff is known for its
thalassotherapy so staying here you are well placed to try it for yourself. And afterwards you can wander
into the village, or for the more energetic why not hire a bicycle from reception, and admire the 16thC granite
buildings, visit the Onion Johnnies museum or enjoy a traditional Breton crêpe at one of the many street-side
