This site is on the Cotentin peninsula - a great
destination with its wild landscape, beautiful
coastline & beaches and interesting places to
visit; The maritime capital of Cherbourg (about
a 30 minute drive) boasts its ‘Cité de la Mer’
a recreational and family oriented park with
a scientific theme where you can enjoy an
adventure in the ‘Aquarium Abyssal’ the deepest
aquarium in Europe. You can also step on board
and explore the only nuclear submarine in the
world that can be visited ‘Le Redoutable’. Barfleur
(54k) is one of France’s prettiest villages where
you can walk along the quayside and sample the
famous, delicious mussels that are harvested
here. And don’t miss Ste Mère Eglise (44k) with its
excellent D-Day Airborne museum and also where
the American paratrooper John Steele’s parachute
got caught on the village church tower whilst
landing - he survived the raid and there is a replica
model of him still displayed there today.
Camping Le Grand Large is a quiet, family run 4
hectare site with 223 spacious, well kept pitches and
direct access (100m) to one of the most beautiful
beaches in France. There is also a lovely coastal path
leaving from the site where you can enjoy panoramic
views and wonderful sunsets. On site facilities
include 3 swimming pools. Only 1 pet accepted.
Max: 4 - Chalet style ‘Cottage 2 bedrooms’ mobile
homes have living room with tv, table / chairs,
padded seating, kitchen corner (fridge / freezer,
microwave + hob). Double (could have a king size
bed) and twin bedroom. Shower, wc. Terrace with
garden furniture. 2 sun loungers.
Max: 6 - Chalet style ‘Cottage 3 bedrooms’ mobile
homes are as Max: 4 except there is a 3rd (twin)
bedroom.
