on the outskirts and is in well kept grounds complete with outdoor pool. Other houses are scattered around and a wealth
of lovely beaches are within easy access.

Linto

The river Miera's limestone valley lies a short drive south of Santander and is a stunning world of oak and beech woods,
green pastures and old villages. Linto is one of the valley's tiny communities and life here is relaxed and slow. Hidden
amongst the beautiful countryside are several caves, including nearby Sopeña in Miera, marked walking paths and some
excellent fishing (permit required). The coast and beaches are not far and San Roque and Lièrganes are both within easy
driving distance for bars, shops and restaurants. Originally a cow byre, Casa Aurelio Carcoba is semi detached to the
owner's mother's house and has been reconstructed into an attractive holiday home. Built into a hillside it has ground
floor access at both lower and upper levels, and there are fantastic views of the mountains from the back of the house.

Valcaba de Soba

A restored water mill off a country lane has been converted into this lovely holiday casa and the welcoming owner's
home (to the left). Reached by winding mountain roads, it is a truly unbeatable location in a wonderfully unspoilt and, in
the main, undiscovered area. As one previous visitor so poetically put it - 'it's a little bit of heaven on earth!' The source
of the river Ason is in these parts and its 50m waterfall is an amazing sight that shouldn't be missed!

Gajano is a small village across the bay from Santander on the coastal road between Astillero and Santoña. It is a good
area for a great choice of lovely beaches and there is plenty to see and do in this part of Cantabria. Casa Joaquin 1 is
one of two single storey, semi detached holiday properties (also see ZS0312 Max 4), either side of the friendly owner's
home in a pleasant part of the village, and is just a short drive from the port.

anyone interested in this unusual culture.
