In beautiful countryside 15k from Bayeux, a former 15thC farm and its outbuildings has been skillfully
converted into this striking hotel which surrounds a picturesque courtyard in lovely grounds. Original
stonework and wooden beams enhance the character and attractiveness of the accommodation and
gorgeous bedrooms are all graced with antiques. Junior suites, which are larger and more comfortable,
are in the manor house 600m away along with a 2nd breakfast room although there are a few in the
main hotel building too. These rooms are also suitable for anyone with limited mobility. All this, plus
a very good restaurant and plenty of good old fashioned hospitality to make your stay even more

Here's your chance to stay in a genuine medieval castle that dates back to the 12thC and was once
visited by Queen Victoria and her family. This fabulously well-preserved building combines modern
comfort with the charm of the past and incorporates a remarkable restaurant which was once the
Knights Hall and is authentic in style with stone walls, tapestries and coats of arms. The breakfast
room and bar are similarly furnished, whilst the pleasant bedrooms, which are all on the first floor, are
individually decorated with simplicity and comfort. Close to Cherbourg, the small quaint market town of
Bricquebec has a great Monday morning market and is a convenient and interesting place to stay just
a short drive from the coast.

Originally a small fishing village and once a favourite with French writers, Cabourg is now an attractive,
family friendly resort with a fabulous beach backed by a long pedestrianised promenade and a
charming Belle Epoque atmosphere. The Hotel Mercure is away from the town centre in a tranquil
position between the river and racecourse, and not far from the long, sandy beach. Bedrooms are
pleasant and air conditioned, there is a gym, sauna and steam room plus a lovely heated outdoor pool
which is covered in cooler months so that it can be used all year round.

Next door to the Hotel Mercure, with which it shares a gym and a lovely bar lounge, the Ibis faces the
yacht harbour in the centre of Caen. Bedrooms have comfortable beds and a shower as opposed to a
bath, and the brasserie next door (under separate management) offers a pleasant environment in which
to dine. Additionally a buffet breakfast is available each morning and underground parking is a welcome
bonus in this busy city. All in all, a good place to stay and an ideal base for exploring wonderful Caen
with its castle and 2 abbeys. Garage parking approx. 12€ / night.
