Pesaguero. Perched on a mountainside with superb views of the tree-covered hills and valleys below, it is a farming
hamlet of 2 halves with nothing more than around 20 houses, one of which is Casa El Lavadero. Reached by exterior
steps and built on a slope adjoining another holiday home, the accommodation is all on the first floor (ground floor
empty) and is furnished in a cheerful, comfortable style. This area is all part of the Liébana valley, the capital of which
is Potes, a delightful market town that is well worth a visit.

Soto Iruz

Charming Soto Iruz is a small village in the Toranzo valley, not far from Puente Viesgo, where traditional farming
methods are very much still in use and the pace of life is slow and relaxed. And on the outskirts, semi detached to
a barn used for storage, Casa Puente Prade shares lovely spacious grounds that are bordered on one side by a river
with the owner's manor house next door and is a real home from home. The land is also sometimes used as grazing
for cows which are tended to by the casa's caretaker and his wife who live on site too and give their guests a warm,
friendly welcome.

Loredo

Casa Iris is the second of two single storey, semi detached casas (also see ZS0446 Max 2 / 3) next door to a 3rd property
all belonging to the same friendly owner in Loredo. This is the larger one of the two and has been stylishly furnished
in a bright, contemporary manner to provide excellent holiday accommodation. It also has a spacious covered terrace
overlooking the garden, the ideal place to sit and relax at the end of a busy day. The lovely beach, which is popular with
surfers, is just a stroll away so if you fancy having a go there are plenty of schools here offering lessons.

Barrio Palacio

Barrio Palacio, just off the A67 (3k), south of Torrelavega, is one of several small villages and hamlets found in the
lush Anievas valley which, geographically, is almost the heart of Cantabria. In a quiet but lovely setting, just above the
hamlet, Casa Celsi is a simply furnished little holiday home that has recently been renovated by its caring owners. The
easy access from Santander makes it an ideal base for sightseeing with both the coast and mountains just a short
drive away and it's a great area for walking and bird watching too. The small town of Arenas de Iguña, which is rich in
popular traditions and legends, is just 4k where you will find several shops, bars and restaurants plus a train station.

Gajano

This is the smaller of two single storey, semi detached holiday homes (also see ZS0311 Max 6) either side of the friendly
owner's house in the lovely quiet village of Gajano. Originally a barn, the property has been nicely converted and has a
pleasant front terrace and long sloping garden. Nice park behind. Santander, with its wide selection of shops, bars and
restaurants, is an easy drive so you are never far from livelier pursuits and amenities, and with so many lovely beaches
all along this fantastic coastline you can try a different one every day if you wish!
