Olite, reputed as one of the 'Flowers of Navarra' since the 17thC, is a prosperous little country town whose
economy is based mainly on agriculture and wine growing. It is dominated by the enormous, battlemented
15thC castle of Carlos III, and right next door to it is the even older Parador, with a delightful garden, antique
furnishings and Navarrese gourmet treats in the restaurant, perfectly accompanied by a choice of local
wines. The castle is beautifully illuminated at night, and the medieval stained glass in the hotel bathes the
dining room and lounges with a soft, romantic glow. Superior rooms are available. Free public parking 500m.

This modern hotel is within the Taconera gardens in the centre of Pamplona, just a short walk from the old
quarter and other popular attractions. Its many facilities include a fitness room, hairdresser and an outdoor
pool in July and August, and the spacious bedrooms all have a mini bar and air conditioning. Best known
for one of the most notorious festivals in the world - San Fermín, or as it's more commonly known, Running
with the Bulls - Pamplona is filled to capacity during this time but if you visit outside this extremely busy
period then the city has many interesting things to see and do including the old walls and cathedral, the
Museum de Navarra, beautiful parks and
gardens and the medieval centre. Hotel

This impressive Renaissance palace overlooks the Alava Plains where the famous Battle of Vitoria took
place in the Peninsular War, and is close to the Rioja wine region. The stylishly modern interior seems
somewhat out of kilter with its historic façade although original stone walls, columns and stairways
have all been carefully maintained and the upper level restaurant remains architecturally impressive.
The bedrooms however have been brought up to date with tvs, large, comfortable beds and crisp cool
linen. Superior rooms with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside and junior suites, which have
a similar view and a lounge area, are also available.
