Scientific studies prove it: hiking in the wilderness
significantly reduces stress symptoms (pulse rate, blood
pressure...), strengthens the immune system and stimulates
creativity. Is that all? No, because walking is also – as
philosophers and writers have understood for centuries – a
spiritual experience; a return-to-self break that lifts the
spirits and reconnects us with the essential. In short, hiking is
the simplest exercise in mindfulness... and perhaps the most
effective! To enter into meditation, all you have to do is focus
your attention on the environment and on your sensations, to
re-join the natural world around you. Just as with yoga,
sophrology and poetry, hiking opens the doors to the most
fabulous of destinations: yourself.
