Golf de Garcelles, Caen - Secqueville
Ref: FGN015, 18 holes - Par 70, 6242yds 9 holes - Par 30, 1804yds
In the heart of Normandy, 10 minutes south of
Caen, this course was designed by Yves Bureau,
a well known architect in Normandy and abroad.
The 18 holes represent a tricky and diverse
quality course. The first 9 holes, in the flat area, is
composed of long fairways that allow you to play
strong shots whereas the back 9 in the woods
demand precision and daring, with 5 holes skirting
stretches of water with thin fairways framed by
trees. This variety enables you to avoid monotony
and to alternate power and technique. Players of all
levels are welcome.
Our opinion:
A good location for your final round,
20 minutes from the ferry port.
Favourite Hole: 16th.
Slightly inland from Deauville, Golf de Beuzeval
Houlgate is dominated in part by the splendid
château nestling in the river valley. Higher up on the
windswept ridge there are wonderful views over the
Channel, particularly on the fabulous 15th, a par five
par excellence. Dating back to 1980, and designed
by none other than Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas,
this private course has always extended a warm
welcome. Your round gets off to a strong start, with
three holes down by the lake. There are trees and
hedges waiting to catch errant shots whether from
elevated tees or tight fairways, and the fast-drying
greens higher up pose a different type of test. Enjoy!
Our opinion:
A popular course with our clients. Favourite Hole: 3rd.

Omaha Beach Golf Club Mer, Port en Bessin
Ref: FGN004, 18 holes - Par 72, 6798yds
A combination of four very different nine hole loops, there’s a rich variety of golf at Omaha Beach and a wealth of
history and culture. La Mer has holes named after Second World War figures (including Churchill, Eisenhower and
De Gaulle), spectacular views of the D-Day landing beaches and a poignant memorial near the gun emplacements at
the back of the sixth green. Le Bocage (Hedgerow), L’Etang (Pond) and the most recent section, Le Manoir (Manor)
make up a terrific sporting test with different challenges either along the coast or in rich rolling countryside. It’s
humbling to play here and look out over the shores where so many perished within living memory, meanwhile a
few miles inland is the ancient town of Bayeux with its famous tapestry denoting another well known battle that
took place almost 1,000 years ago. With some of the largest and quickest greens in France, Omaha Beach has
long been popular with British golfers. Be sure to sample calvados, the famously delicious and powerful brandy made
from the apples growing in the orchards you’ll see on some of the inland holes.
Our opinion:
Take a minute when you’ve played the 6th hole. Favourite Hole: 6th.
Omaha Beach Golf Club Manoir, Port en Bessin
Ref: FGN023, 18 holes - Par 71, 6449yds
This American style course has incorporated the
9 hole etang with 9 new exciting holes which
play towards the Manoir Gerard. The use of some
spectacular water hazards and the rolling terrain
have helped to create a superb layout and fantastic
views. Your game will be tested as you require
accuracy and power to play this course well.
Our opinion:
Now one of the best 36 holes complexes in France.
Favourite Hole: 9th.
Le Golf Parc Robert Hersant, Chaussée d’Ivry
Ref: FGN016, 18 holes - Par 72, 6976yds
This spectacular course 20 minutes from Evreux
is an absolute must when you visit Normandy and,
with a great clubhouse and facilities, you have one
of the best the region can offer. Maintained to the
highest standard, the course has an American feel
to it with plenty of water hazards which include
several island greens and it is surrounded by many
rare species of trees which, when in colour, look
fantastic. Buggy with GPS and use of the driving
range is included in the price. No trolley or club hire.
Our opinion:
Unbelievably fantastic. A must play!
Favourite Hole: 12th.
